Prior to the pandemic, the Centerport Harbor Civic Association held its monthly meetings at the Harborfields Public Library, 31 Broadway, Greenlawn, NY 11740. Since February, 2020, we have been using Zoom to hold our Executive Committee and General Membership meetings. Starting in September, 2021, we returned to in-person meetings at the Harborfields Library. Members, please check your inbox for invitations.

At the 12-16-21 meeting, author and the CHCA’s December Hometown Hero Dave Clemens presented a special slide show: Then & Now Around the Mill Pond.

CHCA’s October Hometown Hero honor went to Stan Wertheimer who is joined here by (left to right) Advisory Board member Rob Schwartz, VP George Pullis, Secretary Debra Amoruso, Bob Lopez who presented Stan with a Proclamation from Senator Jim Gaughran, Co-President Tom Knight, candidates Stephanie Bontempi and Sal Ferro.

Many thanks to Ken Abbott, a Centerport resident and heart transplant recipient, who gave an informative and inspirational presentation on the importance of organ donation. Ken Abbott is a 55-year-old science teacher who received his heart transplant at Mt. Sinai hospital on December 23, 2016.  Ken competed at the 2018 Transplant Games of America in Salt Lake City and is training to compete in the 2020 Transplant Games of America that will be held in the Meadowlands this August.
